Helping Radhika with her Office Cleaning

Helping Radhika with her Office Cleaning

Helping Radhika with her Office Cleaning

Being in a customer facing home & office cleaning business comes with its own set of challenges and fulfilling experiences. We have always maintained that cleaning is a highly intimate business, since we clean your personal spaces – might that be your bedroom or your cabin at work. While our friends at facility management do business with your administration departments, Mr. Homecare often speaks directly to the CEOs before cleaning up small & medium offices across the city. And that means the need to be prompt and pay attention to detail.

Radhika called us for a cleaning session

For her office in Lower Parel (Mumbai), we are grateful she chose us for a cleaning session, and called us up on a busy weekday morning. We understood her requirements and asked for time till afternoon to get back to her with a quotation. It is our Communications team which tackles all requests and schedules a call so our customers don’t have to wait for this essential information. Alas, we skipped this one out.

Radhika had to call us again, later that day

It was no ordinary Friday for our team, because the volume of calls was unusually high. there is only so much a scrawny & well meaning team of 3 can do. But that is no reason for our customers to go through a hassle. Unfortunately, having missed getting back to her, Radhika had to call us again to remind us. And things went further south from there.

Misplaced her number 🙁

In our morning rush, we had misplaced her phone number, thus not allowing us to call her in time. Though there many ways to explain the delay to a customer, at Mr. Homecare, we believe in being honest and transparent. Since that was the reason for delay, that’s exactly what we informed her. Quite understandably, she was upset and preferred to post the same on our Facebook page. We are thankful that she did so, instead of sharing it on her own profile, since that allowed us to act on what we did wrong.

Swift, Unrelenting Action

The Facebook post caught the eye of our customer service hawks, who made an almost immediate call to Radhika, within a minute of her posting on our Facebook page. We expressed sincere apologies and sought to understand what had happened. Within minutes, our Communications team worked on getting her quotation together and emailed it across to her. Whether she has been happy with the cleaning service is material fit for another story.

Lesson Learnt

Radhika is an amazing prospective customer, because she reached out to us when she was upset. We are humans too, and there are times when we mess up badly. However, we owe our growth to our patrons, who have held us by the hands and got us where we are. We like talking to you when you’re happy with our work. We LOVE talking to you when you are not, for that is when we learn our lessons. And if we do not know what mistakes we have made and how we have made you feel, how would be fix the loopholes?

Thank you for your kind support, Radhika.

Going the Extra Mile with Ladders for Cleaning

Home Cleaning Services

Going the Extra Mile with Ladders for Cleaning

Ladders are an integral part of a home cleaning session. Every home has a ceiling, one that cannot be reached that easily. While we do ask our clients to arrange for a stool or a ladder, we even carry them across Mumbai and Bangalore in vans! In fact, the entire kit list is crucial to a cleaning session and we ensure that our teams are well equipped.

What happens when cleaning teams are not equipped?

We depend on our customers to inform us when things go wrong. In every phone and every email that goes out, we stress on our phone number (+91 9022070070, thank you) and the fact that please reach out to us to tell us what you like and what you do not.

We are an organization run by people with best intentions, but we are not perfect. However, we are very keen to help make it the best darn cleanup you’ll experience, and we do that by making amends. If we are not carrying a particular important piece of the puzzle, we have it delivered to you!

Fun with Ladders

We were fortunate to serve Priti Kamani recently, but unfortunately carried a ladder that was shorter than required. She was understandably hassled, and informed us so. We felt sheepish, because a short ladder clearly had no business being at her residence then. We rushed to action, ensured that a taller ladder is procured and dispatched to her place. Its presence helped us do a good cleaning session, which we believe left Priti fairly satisfied as a customer.

If you have been following the business news, you would know that the climate is quite cold for startups. We have been asked to cut our burn, make some money and watch profit margins like a hawk. While we are proud to be a sustainable business, our paper thin margins allow us to keep our prices competitive as well. And margins is something we do not look at, when we goof up! We simply ensure that we fix what we did wrong.

Thank you for your love and support, dear patrons.

Why a one person team makes sense for home cleaning

Home Cleaning Services

As a home cleaning and maintenance company – we offer services ranging from deep cleaning of a bathroom to your entire residence. We fix air conditioners, implement pest control and even clean up your car really well. The services are aimed to delight and they are designed to be functional – we cut off frills – so you find them useful.

Mathematics behind Home Cleaning

Cutting off frills also allows us to manage our costs well. A business that manages its costs well can afford to keep its customers (you guys) happy. The mathematics is quite simple – the team that is sent to a site needs to complete the home cleaning work in 9 hours. If it works for more than half of the day, they still get paid for the entire day. That’s when we either aim for 2 equal sized jobs a day, or just one fat job for one day.

If we are in the same residential complex, our teams often clean only windows or only bathrooms and even only kitchens of more than one home – which helps us utilize one team to its fullest. If we do not have multiple small cleanups in the same area,  our team significantly shrinks to be able to take 9 hours to complete the session.

Your convenience is still a priority

We understand when you would want us to complete a job as soon as we can. Many patrons request for a larger team so the work can be completed in 3 hours as opposed to 6-9 hours. However, no one is willing to pay more for this convenience, which makes it an non-viable offering.

Through our services, we aim to be as non intrusive as possible. So it’s actually better when we send a smaller team, so we could move like the wind in phases, rather than spreading out through the entire space. Also, we balance our work out based on your preferences – if you’d like the bedrooms to be available post lunch and kitchen to be available in the early evening – voila!

Thank you, Geoffrey

“For the price quoted, I expected a lot, perhaps two people, one for window cleaning and one for bathroom cleaning. Only one man arrived and it took him 4.5 hours to do the work. Overall the level of professional cleaning was as I expected but as it was only one person, it took too long for me.”

Geoffrey Fry – who had booked through Hammer and Mop

While we are glad that our dear patron was happy with the quality of home cleaning service delivered, the fact that the experience was not hassle free for him was a cause of concern. There was probably a communication gap at our end, which led to an expectation mismatch.

His feedback was noted and was escalated right away – and we have taken steps to ensure this does not happen again. Though the service quality would stay impeccable, the experience ought to be hassle free as well. If we are sending a one person home cleaning team, that’s something that should be communicated. That’s something we will communicate 🙂

Thank you for your love and support.

4 tips for Delhi on home cleaning after Holi

Holi is the festival of colours, and celebrated with great joy in Delhi. It brings gaiety, fun, and a lot of enjoyment. But just as every coin has a second side to it, it can leave back a lot of obstinate stains and marks on the walls, floors, wash basins, taps and faucets. Cleaning these stains can be challenging as at times they are too hard to handle. Here are some tips for home cleaning after Holi.

1. Floor stains

Dear Delhi, we know that you love playing holi, and we would also like you to have a hassle free home cleaning session afterwards.
Dry colour is easier to clean than wet colour.

Holi festival can leave stains on the floors of your Delhi house; and the problem can become worse if your floors are tiled. So if you see coloured water on the tiles of your house, use a tissue or a paper to dab up the water instead of rubbing or wiping it straightaway. Do this immediately because letting the water remain on the floor for a longer duration can spoil your house’s tiles. However, if dry colour drops on the floor of your house, cleaning is easier because then you can simply sweep it away.

2. Stains on wooden furniture

Dear Delhi, we know that you love playing holi, and we would also like you to have a hassle free home cleaning session afterwards.
Applying Vaseline to water stains can help lighten them to a great extent.

In Delhi weather, stains from wet colour on the wooden furniture can be more than a challenge to remove. However, here’s a tip to make your job easy. Use a cotton ball that has been made wet after dipping it in acetone to remove the stain. Be gentle when you do this because hard rubbing can remove the varnish off your house’s wooden furniture along with the colour stain.

3. Stains on the curtains and other upholstery

Dear Delhi, we know that you love playing holi, and we would also like you to have a hassle free home cleaning session afterwards.
The fabric of the curtain is the key in cleaning the stains on it.

Wet colour on the curtains and cushions can lead to growth of fungus and mould. To clean it, soak the stained materials in a combination of water and white vinegar. This will help you to clean the Holi colors very effectively with the least amount hard work. Dry colours should not be directly dusted off with hands, instead a broom or a vacuum cleaner should be used to get rid of it.

4. Window and glass stains

Dear Delhi, we know that you love playing holi, and we would also like you to have a hassle free home cleaning session afterwards.
Never use paper towels to clean stains on glass as they can leave marks behind.

Cleaning of the window and doors is very easy as the wooden part can be cleaned with acetone and the glass panes can be cleaned using a combination of baking soda and water. These are sure shot methods of getting your windows and doors cleaned of colour residues after you are done with your Holi celebrations and fun.
